The Freak Circus OC Maker

Six mask motifs, five palettes, and the same ticket-stub frame the character files use. Choose a role, a look, and two personality traits, and the card on the left updates as you go. When it reads the way you want, export it as a PNG. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Each role brings its own mask motif and default act title.

Two traits read as a person. Five read as a list.

Voice

How to use this

Work down the form and watch the card change. Role decides the mask motif; Look decides the accent colour used for the frame, the band and the motif itself; Personality gives you two chips; Voice adds the line that an actor would read from. When the card looks right, press Download PNG and the browser draws it onto a canvas and saves it. You can reset at any point and start again.

The frame is the same ticket-stub shape used across the character files: a hairline border, four corner rules, and a perforation line. Keeping the frame identical means your original character sits visually beside the official cast rather than beside generic profile art.

Work in one direction and finish it. Choose the role before the palette, because the motif follows the role and the palette should answer the motif rather than argue with it. If the card feels wrong, the fastest fix is almost always the role, not the colour: no palette rescues an act that has been cast against its own type.

Five roles, five temperaments

The five performers each suggest a different kind of character. Jester suits characters who keep a performance going and control a room by entertaining it. Pierrot suits quiet, patient characters who absorb what happens around them. Harlequin suits restless talkers who move before they think. Ticket Taker suits gatekeepers, people whose whole job is deciding who is allowed in. Doctor suits characters who are calm, precise, and unsettling because of it.

A custom act title is there for the ones that do not fit. Pick the closest motif, then name the act yourself.

None of the five is a rank above the others. They are five different answers to the same question, which is how a performer holds a room. Pierrot holds it by staying: the second tallest of the troupe at 198 cm, carrying a red ticket. Harlequin holds it by moving: 187 cm, the green ticket, and the Morse code puzzles. Ticket Taker holds it by deciding: the Tent of Mirrors, 183 cm. Doctor holds it by knowing: the cyan tent, 207 cm. Jester holds it by narrating: the purple tent. Pick the answer your character would actually give, not the one that flatters them.

OC writing tips

Start from a want, not a look. A character who wants something specific will produce scenes on its own; a character who only has a costume will not. Decide what they are willing to do that the rest of the cast is not, and what they refuse to do even when it costs them.

Keep the contradiction small and believable. The most memorable characters in this kind of story are polite in one situation and ruthless in another, and the reader can see exactly where the line is. Two traits help because they force a choice.

Give your character one thing they are good at and one thing it costs them. A gift with no bill attached reads as wish fulfilment; the same gift with a price attached reads as a person. If you cannot say what your character has given up, the traits you picked are still decoration, and the card will show it.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the character art come from?

Every mark is drawn from geometry in the browser: a mask motif built from lines and shapes, plus type and colour. No third-party illustration and no game assets are used, so you can share what you make.

Is my design uploaded anywhere?

No. The preview and the PNG export both run locally in your browser. Nothing you type or choose leaves your device, and no account is needed.

Can I use the result for a roleplay profile?

Yes, for personal fan use. Please do not sell the card or present it as official art for the game.

Do I have to pick one of the five roles?

Pick the closest of the five first, because the mask motif, the default act title and the accent colour all key off that choice. If none of them fits, choose Custom and type your own act title instead: the frame, the palette and the PNG export all behave exactly the same way.
